Drama Queen!

This is Alayna's first fit of any activity. She is now getting her energy after pumping her with 2 hour feedings to get her weight up. Something must be working cause she is definetly active!! And check out those facial expressions! I think we may have tortured her a bit with this video cause all of this was the result of her wanting to feed!!

After months of hard work, Alayna's room is finally complete!! Mommy and Daddy are very pleased with the final outcome.

Breaking news: Welcome to our world Miss Alayna Nabila Haji!

At 9:14pm on November 2nd, Nabila Kara-Haji gave birth to Alayna who weighed 5 lbs 15.5 ounces. While Miss Alayna came four weeks early, she is doing amazing and we are just simply ecstatic with our new baby girl! Even though she is a night baby and loves to keep us up late into the night, we are enjoying every minute of our newest addition to our family. Thanks to everyone for the incredible support and encouragement and prayers! Here are a few pics of our darling angel.

We just received a formal complaint from Soosan masi that we missed thanking her for spending so much time shopping for all the clothes, enough to last Bebe Haji for the next two years! So this one is for you! Thanks again for the beautiful clothes Soo! Bebe Haji is going to be styling for sure!

Baby Shower!

This past weekend marked a milestone in this journey when mommy had her baby shower along with all her friends and family. It was a great afternoon of fun, food and laughter! Thank you to everyone who came out to share this special day with us and for all the generous gifts. Special thanks go out to Saffiyya Masi and Shazar Masi for planning the day for the past several months and putting in so many long hours and auntie Salma for helping out so much on the day of the event! Also a very special thanks to Nanima Tazim, Dadima Rosie, Nani Naila and Dadi Azra for all their help and support. And we can't forget to thank Nanabapa Mebs, Dadabapa Alnoor, Madat Nana and Amin Dada for catering the event for all the ladies. It was truly an amazing day and we are so glad we have so much support from everyone around us. Bebe Haji is truly blessed.

Good 'ol summer fun with some good 'ol friends.....

This past weekend we had our friends from the old Nortel GNPS team over for some good times by the BBQ, pool and the pit. The sun was hot, 35 degrees, skies were clear, it was just a phenominal day after such a dreary summer! It was just good to get together with these guys after such a long time. Looks like the kids had a ball too! We also got a lot of practice babysitting at the same time (well at least daddy did)!

Successful trip to Syracuse! Let the shopping BEGIN!!!!

So this past weekend we made the hike up to Syracuse to pick up some baby items before the mother-to-be was too big to travel! While the primary purpose of the trip was to pick up our new baby furniture that we had ordered and shipped to Syracuse, we ended up at the outlets in Waterloo. While everyone stressed to us not to go crazy on buying baby clothes, it was still too hard to resist. We went a bit crazy to say the least, and to the defence of the mother-to-be, it was not her doing....the baby girl clothes were just too adorable and soooo well priced. In the end, I believe we might have gone overboard and purchased in the range of 30-40 new outfits.....

The baby furniture will be setup likely in the September/October time frame and we will post the pics as soon as available.

Well today was the big day. We couldnt wait any longer to find out the gender of the baby. So, we decided to visit a private ultrasound clinic to perform gender determination. Once again, our little bebe refused to cooperate. However, our technician was persistent and eventually our bebe showed us the goods!!!!

Haji family visit - July 2009

This past weekend Alfin's parents, grandparents, chacha, chachi and cousin Safia came to town. A packed house to say the least, but it was a blast. Saturday began with a garage sale as we emptied the baby room, a day trip to DII, walking tour of the Byward Market followed by a typical Haji family BBQ with mishkaki, T-bones, and the works, along with Dada-Bapa Haji's signature hot sauce! And the evening perfectly ended with Nabila's Orea Cheesecake by the firepit following a relaxing swim in the pool! In the end, Alfin's BBQ was the unfortunate victim of the weekend's festivites....oh well, just an excuse to get an even better BBQ! Sunday was another packed day at the Jamati picnic at Stanley's Old Maple Lane Farm. Here are a few pics from the fun-filled weekend.....

Our 20 week ultrasound

So today we went to our morphology ultrasound, also known as the ultrasound to determine the baby's gender. We were both super excited to finally know. Unfortunately, despite drinking tons of OJ, our little bebe didnt cooperate and didnt allow the radiologist to get the toilet shot! Bebe was curled in a ball and scratching its head with its little toes in breach position.

Nevertheless, everything else looks good, we even saw bebe eating at one point and punching and kicking like crazy. Must have been all that OJ!

Our second ultrasound

Here is a picture of the second ultrasound taken at 12 weeks 2 days. Amazing how much detail is now visible after only 2 weeks!

Here is a picture of our bebe at 10 weeks 2 days, taken at Queensway Carleton Hospital. This was the first time we saw our new baby and saw its heartbeat for the first time! Really cool!
